Fall Tour Dates Are Up – Get Tickets Here
The Invincible Czars make cinematic, experimental “rock” for music nerds, horror/sci-fi fans, comic book geeks, lovers of cartoons & humor and anyone with a complicated relationship with heavy metal and classical music. Do you like Primus, Frank Zappa, Devo, Danny Elfman, Goblin, Tchaikovsky, Monty Python and Louis Armstrong? We do, too, and our revolving door of players keeps us sounding and looking different from project to project.
We started out making weird music in Austin clubs opening for bands like Secret Chiefs 3, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Melt Banana, etc. but our eclectic instrumentation and broad scope quickly led us to crossovers into the fine arts realm.
In 2007, we started accompanying silent films with our own tastefully modern original live soundtracks at the first Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Austin. In 2016, our soundtrack for Nosferatu struck a chord with horror and classic cinema fans nationwide and we’ve been focused primarily on silent horror film soundtracks ever since. These shows are a lot of fun – we encourage audience participation and write music that helps contemporary audiences engage with these 100 year-old movies!
In 2023, we celebrate our 20th anniversary as a band. We’ll be back on the road with our soundtrack for the world’s first feature length first horror film – The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari in the fall.

I've been backing up files and finding cool stuff! This was probably the best show we ever had at Central Market in Austin. Great to see late keyboardist Bill Petersen! This makes me want to bring the full-scale Nutcracker show back for 2022. The last time we did...
I was backing up all our old video files and found this GoPro footage of a really good holiday performance from DEC 2016 at Fred's Texas Cafe in Ft. Worth. This was the last year we performed a full-on Nutcracker holiday show (since then we've done holiday shows but...
