The Invincible Czars are a multi-faceted collective of musicians that entertains audiences with artsy, cinematic music that sometimes-but-not-always rocks . We're always doing something different with our fluid line-up of players and often sound different from season to season with our rotating cast instruments including violin, woodwinds, keyboard, electric guitar, drums, pitched percussion, bass guitar and other sound effects.
The band first formed in 2002 as a ragtag art-rock group in the clubs of Austin, TX alongside acts like Opposite Day, Muppletone and Bee vs. Moth.
We don't like to brag but uh... We’ve earned international notoriety for our tastefully modern soundtracks for silent horror films which we perform live with the movies at theatres, universities, parks and museums. We also re-invented Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite in our own image and can be found playing festive events during the holidays.
In 2020, we're collaborating from a distance on new music and videos. We're also documenting our silent film soundtracks with the help of our fans through our Patreon page.
In 2018, we were added to the Texas Commission on the Arts' Texas Touring Roster.
Our influences include Faith No More, Frank Zappa, Bernard Herrmann, Danny Elfman, Henry Mancini, Tchaikovsky, Satie, Mussorgsky, Bartok, Raymond Scott, Rev. Horton Heat and Jimi Hendrix.
